One of my favourite interiors.  When I first spied this image of the beauitful Sally Perrin on top of her marble table in ball gown and heels back in 2010 at at, I was awed by her beauty and elegance – and her dreamy apartment.

Located in the Quai Voltaire, the apartment is owned by Michel and Sally Perrin.  Michel Perrin’s great-grandfather founded a leather-glove-making company in 1893 and three generations he and wife Sally Perrin are founders of what is now Perrin Paris Accessories selling luxury leather accessories.

Sally calls the apartment boîte à bijoux, a French term for “jewel box” and the apartment certainly is as splendid and shining as a precious gem.

I’m still loving the Megan Hess/Designer Rug colloboration launched a few years ago and with spring just around the corner, Hess’ collection ‘The Vintage Jewels’ consisting of three hand-tufted rugs called The Palazzo Jewels, The Lost Vault and The Emperor’s Pearls, may inspire you to spring clean your decor and add a touch of Parisian glamour into your home.

Of the collection Hess said “I’ve always loved classic images from a bygone era where women wore elaborate jewelled turbans and sipped champagne! When designing the collection, I imagined beautiful rooms filled with antique jewels, velvet chaise lounges, gilt mirrors and beautiful buttoned upholstery. The tones of gold, silver and peach felt very old-school glamour and reminded me of the classic Parisian Atelier.”

Australian illustrator, Kerrie Hess has collaborated with iconic French brand Ladurée to design a range of gift boxes.  The range includes three designs in colours that complement the pretty pastels colours of the macaroons.  “Illustrating packaging for Maison Ladurée was such a perfect match for me. It took me straight back to my time living in Paris. I wanted to capture the beauty and tradition of the Ladurée brand in its iconic pastel tones through paint, as well as a touch of fashion and whimsy.” said Hess.

No fear that Australian fashion icon Collette Dinnigan has disappeared into the clean NSW country air with her latest design colloboration with Porter’s Paints.  Dinnigan has designed a collection of wallpaper inspired by “the rare and the natural, the whimsical and the opulent, her eye travels from the flower bed of her country home in Milton, NSW to the winding paths of the Boboli Gardens in Rome, always catching the subtle detail, always searching for a refinement of the beautiful” as stated on the Porter’s Paints website.  Dinnigan has included references from her passion of delicate craftmanship and use of artisan materials, particularly the traditional Indian craft of wood block printing on fabric.  The collection includes three designs Paisley Botanique, Fleur Diamant and Le Napoleon, each available in three different colourways including black, gold, pink and aqua.

I’m sure the colloboration of two esteemed Australian design companies will be a success with customers eager to have this stylish union in their homes.  Go to to see more of the collection.

Writing my story this week on shades of black in fashion and beauty on reminded me of the brilliant and beautiful black and white set decor in one of my favourite movies the 2009 film Coco Chanel and Igor Stravinsky by Jan Kounen.

The movie, set in 1920, is based on the alleged love affair between Coco Chanel and Igor Stravinsky and centres largely around Chanel’s new villa Bel Respiro in the French countryside in Garches.  The black and white rooms created by set designer Marie-Helene Sulmoni are the epitome of Coco’s classic yet sensual style and Sulmonu’s use of geometric and abstract designs interwoven into the monochromatic colour scheme is a stroke of brilliance and beauty.

The story of Chanel and Stravinksy is itself intruiging but the highly stylised stage of black and white is a visual masterpiece.

When a celebrity stylist gets married you know it’s going to be a ‘Vogue’ moment – especially when your wedding guests, and clients, are the likes of Kate Hudson, Katie Perry, Riley Keogh and Jessica Alba. Stylist Jamie Schneider married hedge fund manager Nico Mazrahi in a intimate ceremony on a ranch in Aspen in front of 200 guests (and many A-list celebrities). The bride wore three dresses including Hedi Slimane for Yves Saint Laurent for the ceremony which Schneider described as ‘a feminine version of a Yves Saint Laurent tuxedo jacket’. For the wedding celebrations Schneider changed into sequinned Marc Jacobs and later Julie de Libran for Sonia Rykiel.  (BTW – that’s Nicole Richie and hubbie Joel Madden, Katie Perry, Jessica Alba in the photo bottom right).
Wonder if Schneider needs a stylist to help out with all those celebrities?
